Rethinking How I Create Content

I’ve realized that over the years, my content strategy has become messy. Ideas, drafts, and half-finished posts are scattered everywhere. It feels overwhelming, and I kept asking myself: Is this really working? Am I just creating content for the sake of posting? So, I made a decision. I’m starting over. I’m rebuilding my content from scratch, and this time, I’m documenting the journey. Not the polished “how-to” version you usually see online, but the real, behind-the-scenes p

Hi! I’m Heather, a Social Media and Content Specialist rebuilding my own content from scratch and sharing what I learn along the way.

I’ve spent years helping others simplify their content by repurposing, and now I’m applying those same lessons to my own strategy, so you can learn from the process without starting from zero.

Rather than starting where it feels easiest, I’m focusing on the foundation and doing the setup work first..

Right now, that looks like:
• Reviewing my social media profiles
• Updating bios + photos
• Choosing my homebase
• Planning posting frequency
• Defining my focus

It’s not flashy, but it’s exactly what I’ve been missing and it’s already helping me feel calmer and more intentional.

Some days I worry I’m not doing enough. Then I remember, I don’t want a massive business or a team. I just want something meaningful that lets me live life my way.

For years, I felt like narrowing my focus picking a niche meant cutting things out.

But now I see it differently, focus is freedom.

Knowing what I want to be known for makes creating ideas easier and helps others actually understand who I am and what I do.

Hitting publish feels scary today and honestly most days.

Not every post I create ends up perfect and honestly, that’s okay. I still overthink details, wonder if anyone will notice, and sometimes hit publish with a mix of excitement and nerves.

What I’m learning is that experimenting, testing, and sharing along the way is how I find my voice and figure out what works. Even the messy posts can connect with someone, teach something, or spark an idea.

So today, I’m reminding myself (and you): you don’t have to get it perfect. Just start.

I wish I had given myself permission to start over sooner.
To simplify instead of overcomplicate.
To create content that feels good, not just what "I should" post.

People often assume creating content comes easily to me because I do it for others. But when it comes to my own, I face the same fears and doubts as everyone else.

I still wonder if what I’m sharing is valuable. I still overthink before I post. I still hold back sometimes because it feels too personal.

What I’ve learned is that content creation gets lighter when you stop trying to do it perfectly and start giving yourself permission to experiment, to pause, and to grow.

If you’re trying to figure out how to show up online in a way that feels right for you, this is your reminder: you’re allowed to make it simple. You’re allowed to start again. You’re allowed to do it your way.
